Austin Powder is taking explosive production to a new level with the modernization of its HMX plant in Rafaela. Austin can now produce a new “Class 5” granulometry product (micronized) which is necessary for shock tube manufacturing.
Class 5 HMX was developed in Rafaela Plant in partnership with our customer & competitor in the explosives industry, whose R&D leader, an expert chemist, has been an invaluable support through the whole process. Top-quality product is being produced thanks to the team’s great dedication and hard work to make modifications on the plant and processes. In Austin Powder, we are proud of the results obtained so far, a perfected process and excellent plant performance.
In addition to manufacturing this raw material for shock tubes for the Austin Detonator companies, Austin Powder can now export to shock tube producers around the world. This upgrade allows Austin Powder to be included in the small and exclusive group of Class 5 HMX producers around the world.
