"At Austin Powder, sustainability is not just a responsibility—it is a core value that shapes how we operate, innovate, and contribute to a better future for our employees, customers, and communities,” says John D. Rathbun, President & CEO.

“I am proud to share Austin Powder’s 2024 Sustainability Report, which reflects the progress we’ve made in reducing our environmental footprint, strengthening our workplace culture, and advancing sustainable innovation.
Sustainability is central to how we operate. In 2024, we navigated global challenges with resilience, staying focused on safety, operational excellence, and the “Power of Family.” A major milestone was the 2023 closure of our Nitric Acid plant in Mexico, transitioning to rail-supplied AN products. This shift delivered strong results: 60 tonnes less plastic waste, 33,000 tonnes CO₂ emissions avoided, 70% lower electricity use, and a 60% drop in water consumption.
We also boosted carbon capture 2.5x at our Juramento Plant and cut emissions by 8% while increasing ammonia output. Through our partnership with NACAG, we’ve secured funding for N₂O abatement technology. On the waste front, 42% of hazardous materials were recycled, and we plan to expand the reuse of off-spec emulsions across our network.
We believe sustainability also means caring for people. Our LATAM teams earned Great Place to Work® certification, with 9 out of 10 employees reporting a positive experience. We continue building trust and value in the communities we serve through transparency, collaboration, and shared goals.
Looking forward, we remain committed to environmental stewardship, industry leadership, and driving positive change through innovation and strong partnerships.
Thank you for your continued support.”
Sincerely,

“We are pleased to share Austin Powder´s 2024 Sustainability Report, highlighting a year of progress towards shaping and implementing our sustainability strategy.
Sustainability is at the heart of our corporate strategy. We continually challenge ourselves to make a positive impact on our key stakeholders: employees, customers, communities, natural capital, and shareholders.
We believe responsible and sustainable practices generate positive financial returns. At Austin Powder, we continuously seek innovative ways to reduce energy consumption, minimize water usage, source recycled materials, convert waste into energy, and reintegrate hazardous waste into production.
A strong sustainability strategy helps mitigate business risks in our industry and the markets we serve. By strengthening relationships with local communities and reducing our environmental footprint, we ensure business continuity and maintain our license to operate.
In 2024, we proudly established the Global Sustainability Team, tasked with defining and implementing regional sustainability strategies while aligning them with our corporate vision.
Looking ahead, we recognize the challenges and opportunities ahead of us. In 2025, we will reshape our Net Zero roadmap and decarbonization plan, enhance corporate environmental policies, and continue attracting top talent to our sustainability team.
Sustainability is—and will continue to be—a key driver of value for our business and stakeholders.”
