Exploration in the oil and gas industries is dependent on reliable data gathered safely at a moment's notice. Austin Powder Company supports the seismic exploration of oil and natural gas resources throughout North America and around the world. We provide the products and know-how to enable the effective mapping of oil and gas resources.
For nearly 200 years, Austin Powder has been in the business of helping customers blast safely and efficiently. Our long history reflects the continuous development of new, safer, and more reliable blasting products along with innovative technologies and analytic software.
It all begins with our commitment to safety. We employ certified blasters, state-of-the-art delivery systems, and the safest, highest-quality products. We also place great importance on environmental concerns, minimizing or eliminating any environmental impacts.
Each exploration project is different. Requirements and constraints regarding blasting vary, and on-site conditions may change daily. Austin can provide explosives, detonators, and accessories to drilling contractors and geophysical companies to obtain the desired seismic data.
Austin Powder is the manufacturer of the E*STAR Electronic Seismic Initiation System, which includes SeisDC QC (Quality Control) Software and GPS-enabled Seismic Drill Data Loggers. Multiple data capture is achieved through GPS-based Drill Data Loggers that upload to Austin Powder’s proprietary SeisDC Analysis Software.
This innovative system provides the Drill Push, Birddog, and Project Manager with Custom Drill Reports, Daily Production Progress, Shot-point Position Mapping, and QC analysis. This also includes seismic drill-hole loading procedures, geophysical recording crew “shooting” procedures, data management QC, and the use of GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) software for shot-point data mapping and archiving. The goal is data accuracy for the geophysical processors, resulting in a superior product for the producer.
SeisDCData Mapping & QC Software simplifies the formidable challenge of correctly QC-ing and logging both the drilling and the geophysical recording crew’s seismic explosives life-cycle management. In addition, SeisDC provides a superior, defensible electronic database that maps important details to the drilling contractor, geophysical contractor, seismic data processor, HSE (health, safety, and environment) regulatory compliance, and ultimately the oil or gas producer.
We are a traditional manufacturer of initiation systems for industrial blasting operations and an important technological and research base for production and further development of initiation systems.
