Established in 1930 and covering 1200 acres in Vinton County, Ohio, Red Diamond is Austin Powder’s core manufacturing plant in North America. Nearly the entire line of Austin Powder Company products, excluding detonators, is produced at the Red Diamond facility, including the PETN plant that produces cast boosters and detonating cord material. The site is also home to maintenance shops that support Austin nationwide, state-of-the-art quality assurance/quality control labs, research and development labs, and testing facilities. Red Diamond is Vinton County, Ohio’s largest employer, with around 250 employees ranging from laborers, operators, engineers, mechanics, electricians, security, truck drivers, lab technicians, chemists, and other support personnel.
