Austin Powder is actively working to improve energy efficiency across its operations by rolling out more efficient technologies, optimizing processes and reducing energy consumption.
In 2024, Austin Powder increased its total energy consumption by 1% to 1,075.2 GWh, with over 73% coming from natural gas, mainly driven by ammonia production at USN and Juramento, which together made up more than 78% of total energy use. We are progressively integrating renewable sources, such as solar, with sites in Brazil, Chile, Poland, Malaysia, and Zimbabwe, generating 184 MWh from solar installations.
Despite the slight rise in energy consumption, overall GHG emissions declined due to a 10% increase in CO₂ capture per tonne of ammonia at Juramento and USN. Aligned with its SHES policy, Austin Powder continues implementing measures to reduce energy and water use, improve waste management, and enhance reporting through localized, regulation-compliant strategies.
We are a traditional manufacturer of initiation systems for industrial blasting operations and an important technological and research base for production and further development of initiation systems.
