Austin Powder Australia has created AP University (APUNI) and launched its first module, EUNI, which focuses on ESTAR initiation systems. This platform marks the starting point for additional future training on products, manufacturing, and maintenance. APUNI addresses the challenge of supporting customers in remote locations such as New Zealand and Western Australia, where service visits can take up to 19 hours due to the complexity of travel logistics. Training can be completed on any device, including desktop computers, tablets, and mobile phones. AP University provides digital tools and a knowledge base to ensure that users gain the necessary skills to promote safety and efficiency. Recently ISO certified, the platform reflects a commitment to continuous improvement, with a real-time dashboard and an accessible training archive. The first E*UNI training session took place in New Zealand with 24 RedBull Powder Company employees, who praised the platform for its interactive learning, skills-based levels, and the flexibility to choose study times and locations.
As part of Austin Powder’s ongoing strategy to unify training and innovation to improve workplace safety and employee knowledge, several business units have implemented state-of-the-art virtual reality (VR) training programs. These programs are designed to immerse employees in practical and realistic scenarios where they can identify and manage workplace risks safely and effectively. The aim is to ensure all team members have the necessary skills and experience to handle dangerous situations, while promoting a companywide safety culture. The immersive training focused on areas such as electrical hazards, lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, and the use of fire extinguishers, helping employees gain valuable, real-world experience in dealing with these critical situations. The interactive nature of virtual reality allowed participants to practice these skills in a safe and controlled environment, building confidence and competence. This initiative reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to employee safety, reinforcing its dedication to employee development and continuous improvement of safety standards at all locations.
