Vsetín, 15. 9. 2018
Although the demand for our products exceeds the current production capacities of our company, we decided to stop production on Saturday and open the gates to the public. Five years ago Austin celebrated this way the 60th anniversary of the production of detonators in Vsetín. One of the reasons for holding an open house this time was the upcoming 20th anniversary of Austin Detonator’s ownership by the Austin Powder Company.
We held an open house on September 15th. The event took place in the form of commented tours. On the basis of the positive reaction of the employees, we anticipated a great interest in the event. More than 1058 tickets were issued. The management of the company decided to introduce a voluntary admission fee for this opportunity and provide the final sum to the Family and Maternity Center Sluníčko Vsetín. The CEO of the company, Otta Grebeň, commented: “I was very pleased and proud to be informed that after announcing a voluntary admission fee, our employees donated more than 25 thousand crowns. This philosophy builds on the tradition of the benefit ball, where the proceeds from the sale of admission tickets are donated to a good cause for a third year now. ”
The event itself was intended for both current and former employees and their family members. Those interested in the tour were allowed to enter the grounds at regular intervals, always in an organized guided group. Although the visitors were transported by a bus in a certain section, the route was quite challenging. It took over 2 hours and was 3.5 km long. The tour began in mechanical workshops and continued through the Ráztoka Valley where visitors had a chance to see the loading of detonators. Later, guides took their groups to the Žamboška Valley to see NELA robots and the production of the SHOCK TUBE, where, as in other workplaces, machine operators were willingly explaining the technical and manufacturing processes and were patiently answering all visitor´s questions. Thanks to the prepared videos, participants were presented with the usage of detonators in practice in our showroom.
